Bed bug

Indoor environments, specifically mattresses, box springs, bed frames, furniture cracks, and crevices close to human sleeping areas.

Strictly hematophagous; feeds exclusively on the blood of humans and other warm-blooded animals.

Nocturnal and highly secretive, emerging primarily at night to pierce the skin and feed. They hide during the day in tight crevices, often leaving behind dark fecal spots, shed skins, and blood smears on bedding as seen in the image.

Risks include itchy bites, potential allergic reactions, secondary skin infections from scratching, and significant psychological distress or insomnia. They provide no known ecological benefits to human indoor environments and are considered household pests.
