Bed bug

Found indoors in human habitations, particularly in cracks and crevices of mattresses, box springs, bed frames, and upholstered furniture.

Hematophagous (feeds exclusively on the blood of humans and other warm-blooded animals)

Nocturnal and elusive; hides in dark crevices during the day and emerges at night to feed using a piercing-sucking mouthpart.

Risks include painful, itchy bites, secondary skin infections from scratching, and psychological distress from infestations; they provide no known ecological benefits to human living spaces.
