Caddisfly Egg Mass

Found near freshwater sources such as lakes, ponds, or streams; often attached to rocks, plants, or overhanging vegetation.

Non-feeding stage; larvae feed on detritus, algae, or small invertebrates.

The eggs are encased in a gelatinous matrix to prevent dehydration; they eventually drop into the water or hatch and crawl into it.
