Louse (likely a head louse)

Lives among human scalp hair, close to the skin where it feeds. It is transferred mainly through direct head-to-head contact.

Feeds exclusively on small blood meals from the human scalp several times daily.

Wingless and unable to jump or fly; it crawls rapidly and grips hair with clawed legs. Females cement eggs to hairs near the scalp, and the life cycle typically lasts 3–4 weeks.

Causes head-lice infestation with itching, irritation, and possible secondary skin infection from scratching. It is not known to transmit human disease; it has no meaningful ecosystem benefit in household settings.
