Long-bodied cellar spider (daddy longlegs)

Common indoors in quiet, dim, humid areas such as corners, basements, garages, and under furniture; also found in sheds and caves.

Predatory, consuming flies, mosquitoes, moths, ants, and other small arthropods. It may also capture other spiders, including larger species.

Builds loose, irregular cobwebs and hangs upside down while waiting for prey. When disturbed, it rapidly vibrates in the web; females carry egg sacs in their jaws and spiderlings disperse after hatching.

Harmless to people and pets, with no medically significant bite risk. Beneficial indoors because it reduces nuisance insects and other spiders.
