Mosquito Larva

Stagnant or slow-moving water, including ponds, bird baths, puddles, and rainwater containers.

Mostly feeds on algae, bacteria, and other microorganisms in the water.

They live at the surface of the water, breathing through a tube called a siphon. They are often called 'wigglers' due to their distinctive swimming motion.

The larvae themselves are non-biting but will mature into adult mosquitoes, which can be vectors for diseases like West Nile virus, malaria, and Zika. They serve as a food source for fish and other aquatic wildlife.
