Cellar spider (daddy longlegs)

Quiet, sheltered places such as basements, garages, sheds, crawl spaces, and building eaves; it commonly occupies loose, irregular webs.

Feeds on flies, mosquitoes, moths, other spiders, and small insects captured in its web. It may also attack prey considerably larger than itself.

Builds tangled webs in dim, undisturbed locations and vibrates rapidly when disturbed, making its body difficult to see. Females carry an egg bundle in their jaws and spiderlings disperse after hatching.

Harmless to people and not medically significant; its bite is rare and generally mild. It benefits households by consuming nuisance insects and other spiders.
