Bed bug

Mattresses, box springs, bed frames, upholstered furniture, and cracks near sleeping areas. They hide in seams and emerge mainly at night.

Feeds almost exclusively on blood, usually from humans but sometimes other mammals or birds. Both nymphs and adults require blood meals.

Nocturnal, wingless, and adept at hiding; females lay small batches of eggs in protected crevices. Infestations spread through luggage, clothing, furniture, and adjacent rooms.

Bites cause itchy, irritated welts and can trigger allergic reactions; bed bugs are not established vectors of disease. They provide little meaningful ecological benefit indoors.
