Bed Bug

Indoor environments, specifically cracks and crevices of mattresses, box springs, bed frames, and furniture near sleeping areas.

Hematophagous (feeds exclusively on the blood of humans and other warm-blooded animals)

Nocturnal and highly secretive, emerging primarily at night to feed while hosts are sleeping. They hide during the day and undergo incomplete metamorphosis through five nymphal stages.

Risks include painful, itchy bites, secondary skin infections from scratching, and significant psychological stress or anxiety. They offer no known benefits to humans or domestic ecosystems.
