Found worldwide in pantries, kitchens, and warehouses where dried plant materials or processed foods are stored.

A wide variety of dried plant products including flour, bread, cereals, spices, and even non-food items like leather, books, and dried medicinal herbs.

Adults are active and can fly; they do not feed but focus on reproduction. The larvae are the primary feeders, burrowing through substrate and leaving tiny exit holes when transitioning to adulthood.

Known as a significant pantry pest that causes economic loss through food contamination. They are harmless to humans (do not bite or sting) but usually mandate the disposal of infested food items.
