Drugstore Beetle

Pantropical and temperate regions; often found indoors in pantries, kitchens, and warehouses.

Polyphagous; larvae feed on dried plant products including flour, bread, spices (like pepper and cumin), coffee beans, and even prescription drugs.

Adults are capable of flight and are attracted to light; they do not feed as adults. Females lay eggs on food materials, and larvae tunnel through the substrate.

A significant stored-product pest that causes economic damage by contaminating and destroying food supplies; no direct health risk or bite to humans.
