Booklouse

High-humidity indoor environments such as old books, archives, pantry shelves, and under wallpaper.

Microscopic fungi, mold, starch (from book bindings/pastes), and organic debris.

They are wingless, moisture-loving insects that thrive in humid conditions. They reproduce rapidly in damp areas and are often found in clusters, though they are mostly dormant until disturbed.

They do not bite humans or pets and do not spread disease. However, they are considered nuisance pests that can damage paper products and contaminate dry stored foods if populations become large.
