Green lacewing

Vegetation, gardens, agricultural fields, and buildings near outdoor lights; adults commonly rest on leaves and windows.

Adults mainly consume nectar, pollen, honeydew, and sometimes small insects. Larvae are active predators of aphids, scale insects, mites, thrips, and other soft-bodied arthropods.

Adults are delicate, mostly nocturnal fliers attracted to lights. Females deposit stalked eggs; predatory larvae camouflage themselves with debris and molt through three stages before pupating.

Harmless to people and pets, though adults may emit a mild defensive odor if handled. They are beneficial biological-control insects, especially against aphids.
