Ground beetle (likely a seed/cereal ground beetle)

Usually found outdoors in soil, leaf litter, gardens, fields, and beneath stones or debris; it may wander indoors accidentally.

Mostly feeds on seeds, fallen plant material, and small insects or other arthropods; many species are beneficial predators.

Generally nocturnal and ground-dwelling, hiding during the day. Adults overwinter in soil or sheltered places, and some are attracted to indoor lights.

Harmless to people and pets: it does not bite, sting, infest fabrics, or reproduce indoors. It can benefit gardens by eating pest insects and weed seeds.
