Smooth Spider Beetle

Commonly found indoors in structures, warehouses, granaries, and museums where they prefer dark, damp locations.

Scavengers that feed on a wide variety of dried organic materials including flour, seeds, cereal, spices, animal droppings, and dried insects.

Primarily nocturnal and slow-moving; they have a globose, shiny appearance resembling a large mite or spider and cannot fly.

While they do not bite or pose a direct health risk to humans or pets, they are considered pests as they can contaminate and damage stored food products and natural history specimens.
