Indian meal moth

Found indoors in pantries, kitchens, and food storage areas where dry goods are kept.

Larvae feed on stored food products such as grains, flour, cereals, nuts, seeds, pet food, and dried fruits. Adult moths do not eat and survive only to reproduce.

Adults are weak fliers and are often seen resting on walls or ceilings, usually active at night. Females lay eggs directly on or near food sources.

They are a common household pest that contaminates stored food products with webbing and frass, leading to spoiled food, but they do not bite or transmit diseases to humans.
