Aphid (likely potato aphid)

Found on tender stems, leaves, and growing tips of garden and crop plants, especially in temperate regions.

Feeds by sucking phloem sap with piercing-sucking mouthparts, often causing curling, yellowing, or stunted growth.

Reproduces rapidly, often asexually, producing live young; winged forms disperse when plants become crowded or stressed. Ants may tend colonies for honeydew.

Can weaken plants and transmit plant viruses; honeydew promotes sooty mold. Also serves as food for lady beetles, lacewings, hoverfly larvae, and parasitoid wasps.
