Found worldwide in pantries, kitchens, pharmacies and commercial food storage areas.

A wide variety of dried plant and animal products including flour, bread, cereals, spices, and even pharmaceutical drugs.

They are strong fliers and go through a complete metamorphosis (egg, larva, pupa, adult). Adults are attracted to light and are most active at night.

Significant economic pests that contaminate food supplies and can damage non-food items like books or museum specimens; they pose no direct health risk to humans.
