Florida Predatory Stink Bug

Typically found in fields, gardens, and woodlands throughout the southeastern United States, often on foliage near prey.

Strictly carnivorous; feeds on over 100 species of prey, including beetle larvae, caterpillars (like the Monarch caterpillar shown), and other soft-bodied insects.

Nymphs often exhibit gregarious behavior, hunting in groups to take down larger prey. Adults use a piercing-sucking proboscis to inject paralyzing enzymes into their target.

Highly beneficial to the ecosystem and agriculture as a natural pest control agent. They pose no significant risk to humans, though they may produce a foul odor if mishandled.
