Bed bug

Hides near human sleeping areas—in mattress seams, bed frames, furniture, and wall cracks—and emerges to feed at night.

Blood-feeding parasite; primarily feeds on humans, though it can bite other warm-blooded animals.

Flat, oval, wingless insects that hide in groups and can survive for months between meals. They spread by hitchhiking in luggage, clothing, and furnishings.

Bites can cause itchy skin reactions and disturbed sleep; bed bugs are not known to transmit human diseases. They have no meaningful ecosystem benefit indoors.
