Grain mite (or Flour mite)

Stored grain, flour, cereal, nuts, cheese, and damp indoor environments.

Feeds on processed grains, seeds, fungi/molds, and yeasts found in stored food.

Rapid reproduction in high humidity (above 60%); can enter a 'hypopus' dormant stage to survive harsh conditions and hitchhike on other insects.

Causes food spoilage and contamination; can cause 'grocer's itch' (allergic dermatitis) and respiratory issues in humans; significant agricultural pest.
