Small ant-like cobweb spider (likely a cellar spider juvenile)

Dark, quiet indoor spaces such as ceilings, corners, basements, garages, and sheds; also occurs in sheltered outdoor webs.

Predatory, feeding on flies, mosquitoes, moths, other spiders, and small arthropods captured in irregular, tangled webs.

Builds loose cobwebs and often vibrates rapidly when disturbed, becoming difficult to see. Females may carry an egg cluster in their jaws; juveniles molt repeatedly before adulthood.

Generally harmless to people and not medically significant. Beneficial as a household predator of nuisance insects, though webs can be unwanted.
