Stable fly

Found globally around farms, stables, pastures, and rural areas where livestock is kept, but can also enter residential spaces.

Both male and female stable flies feed on blood from mammals, particularly livestock like cattle and horses, as well as humans and dogs.

They are active during the day, particularly in warm, sunny weather. Unlike house flies, their bite is painful and they prefer biting the lower extremities.

Their bite is painful and can cause skin irritation or allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. They can also act as mechanical vectors for certain animal diseases.
