Case-bearing clothes moth larva (probable)

Indoors, especially closets, carpets, upholstered furniture, and dark, undisturbed areas containing natural fibers.

Larvae eat keratin-containing materials such as wool, fur, feathers, hair, and lint. Adults do not feed and mainly reproduce.

The larva carries a silken, fiber-covered case and retreats into it when disturbed; it pupates inside the case. Adults are small, weak-flying moths that avoid light.

Larvae can damage wool clothing, carpets, and other animal-based textiles, but they do not bite people or transmit disease. Control involves laundering or heat-treating fabrics, vacuuming, and reducing dark, undisturbed storage areas.
