Natural Habitat

Human dwellings, specifically mattresses, bed frames, furniture seams, baseboards, and wall cracks.

Diet & Feeding

Obligate hematophage; feeds exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans.

Behavior Patterns

Nocturnal parasites that hide in dark crevices during the day and emerge at night to feed. When crushed after a blood meal, they leave characteristic reddish-brown blood stains on sheets or paper towels.

Risks & Benefits

Risks include itchy bites, allergic reactions, secondary skin infections from scratching, anxiety, and sleep deprivation. They do not efficiently transmit infectious diseases to humans, nor do they offer ecosystem benefits indoors.
