Household Casebearer

Found indoors in homes, typically on walls, ceilings, and under furniture, often inside a portable silken case covered in dust and debris.

Feeds on spider webs, hair, wool, feathers, dust, and occasionally organic debris or other stored fabrics.

The larva drags its flat, purse-shaped case wherever it goes, extending its head and front legs out to crawl and feed. When mature, it pupates inside the case before emerging as a small moth.

They do not bite or transmit diseases, but heavy infestations can damage woolen fabrics, carpets, and clothing, and their hanging cases are considered an aesthetic nuisance in homes.
