Bed bug (likely nymph)

Hides in mattress seams, bed frames, upholstered furniture, carpeting, and wall cracks, usually near sleeping hosts.

Feeds exclusively on blood, primarily from humans and occasionally bats, birds, or other animals. It typically feeds at night.

Flattened, wingless, reddish-brown insects that hide during daylight and emerge nocturnally. Females lay eggs in protected crevices; infestations spread through luggage, clothing, furniture, and adjacent rooms.

Bites can cause itchy welts, allergic reactions, and sleep disruption, but bed bugs are not known to transmit diseases routinely. They provide little meaningful ecological benefit indoors.
