Harvester Ant

Open arid or semi-arid environments, grasslands, and deserts, typically nesting in soil beneath rocks or clearings.

Primarily granivorous, collecting seeds and storing them in underground granaries; will also scavenge dead insects and consume nectar.

Highly social insects with complex colony structures. Known for creating clearings around nest entrances and foraging along well-defined trails.
