Japanese Beetle

Gardens, lawns, agricultural fields, forests, and grassy areas throughout North America and East Asia.

Adults skeletonize foliage, feeding on leaves, flowers, and fruit of over 300 plant species. Larvae (grubs) feed underground on the roots of grasses and turfgrass.

Adults are active during sunny summer days, congregating in large groups to feed and mate. Larvae overwinter deep in the soil and emerge as adults in early summer.

Significant agricultural and horticultural pest. Causes widespread damage to crops, ornamental plants, trees, and lawns. They pose no direct harm to humans as they do not bite or sting.
