Millipede

Moist soil, leaf litter, rotting wood, gardens, and other damp sheltered areas; it may wander indoors from humid locations.

Feeds mainly on decaying leaves, wood, fungi, and other organic debris, helping decompose plant material.

Mostly nocturnal and moisture-seeking. It curls into a coil when disturbed and may enter buildings during wet weather or when conditions outdoors become dry.

Generally harmless to people, pets, and structures; it does not bite or infest food. Some species release irritating defensive chemicals, so avoid handling and wash hands afterward; ecologically, it contributes to nutrient cycling.
