Found globally in pantries, warehouses, and homes where dried food or organic materials are stored.

Generalist feeder consuming flours, bread, cereals, spices, chocolate, and sometimes non-food items like leather, books, or herbarium specimens.

Larvae tunnel through materials as they feed; adults are capable of flight and are often attracted to light source. They are most active at night.

Significant pest of stored products that can spoil food supplies; does not bite or carry disease to humans but causes economic damage.
