Cellar Spider

Found worldwide in dark, damp places such as cellars, basements, crawl spaces, garages, and upper corners of rooms.

Carnivorous, feeding on other spiders, insects, and occasionally woodlice. They are known to hunt and consume other potentially dangerous spiders like black widows.

They build irregular, tangled, non-sticky webs in corners. When disturbed, they vibrate rapidly in their web to blur their appearance and evade predators.

Generally considered beneficial as they help control populations of nuisance pests and other spiders in homes. They are completely harmless to humans as their venom is weak and their fangs are rarely capable of piercing human skin.
