Vegetation, leaf litter, gardens, and agricultural fields; adults may occasionally wander indoors.

Adults chew small “shot holes” in plant leaves, especially brassicas and other crops; larvae usually feed on roots or underground plant parts.

Small, shiny, often oval beetles that jump strongly when disturbed using enlarged hind legs. Adults are most active in warm conditions and reproduce on or near host plants.

Generally harmless to people and pets, with no biting or disease-spreading significance. Some species are crop pests, while others contribute to food webs and natural nutrient cycling.
