Lace bug (likely sycamore lace bug)

Lives on the undersides of leaves, especially sycamore and plane trees, in parks, streets, gardens, and woodlands.

Nymphs and adults pierce leaves and suck plant sap. Sycamore lace bugs primarily feed on sycamore and related plane trees.

Adults and nymphs are often found in groups beneath leaves; several generations may occur yearly. They overwinter as adults in bark crevices or leaf litter.

They can cause pale stippling, dark droppings, and premature leaf drop, but rarely seriously damage healthy trees or bite people. They provide prey for spiders and other insect predators.
