Carpet beetle (likely adult black carpet beetle)

Homes, especially carpets, closets, upholstered furniture, and areas containing natural fibers. Adults may occur near windows and lights.

Adults mainly eat pollen and nectar; larvae feed on wool, fur, feathers, hair, silk, and other keratin-rich materials.

Adults are oval, dark, and slow-moving; larvae are hairy and cause most damage. They hide in undisturbed areas and may infest stored textiles.

Not dangerous to people and do not bite, though larval hairs can irritate sensitive skin. They help decompose animal-derived materials but can damage clothing, carpets, and museum specimens.
