Larvae feed on natural fibers like wool, silk, hair, and feathers, as well as dried food; adults feed on pollen and nectar.

Adults are attracted to light and are often found near windows; larvae are secretive, crawling into dark, undisturbed areas to feed and grow.

Can cause significant damage to household textiles, clothing, and upholstered furniture; larvae hairs may cause skin irritation or allergic reactions in some people.
