Carpet Beetle

Found indoors in carpets, clothing, and upholstered furniture; outdoors in bird nests, animal dens, and on flowering plants.

Adults feed on pollen and nectar. Larvae feed on organic materials including wool, silk, fur, feathers, and dried food products.

Larvae are secretive and avoid light while feeding on fabrics; adults are attracted to light and are often seen near windows during their spring mating season.

They are significant household pests that damage fabrics and stored goods; larval hairs can cause skin irritation or allergic reactions in sensitive individuals.
