Common Bed Bug

Found worldwide in human dwellings, particularly in cracks and crevices of mattresses, box springs, bed frames, and upholstered furniture.

Hematophagous; feeds exclusively on the blood of humans and other warm-blooded animals.

Nocturnal and highly secretive, emerging mostly at night to feed while hosts are sleeping. They navigate using warmth and carbon dioxide cues.

Risks include painful, itchy bites, secondary skin infections from scratching, psychological distress, and severe infestations that are difficult to eradicate. They provide no known benefits to humans.
