Linen Head Louse (Nit)

Found exclusively on the human scalp and hair, often transferred to bedding or clothing.

Obligate ectoparasite; feeds on human blood multiple times a day.

Glues eggs (nits) to hair shafts or fibers; cannot jump or fly, crawls to move between hosts.

Causes itching, scalp irritation, and secondary infections from scratching; no known ecosystem benefits.
