Carpet Beetle

Found indoors in homes, particularly in dark, undisturbed areas such as closets, carpets, baseboards, and attics where natural fibers accumulate.

Larvae feed on animal-based natural fibers including wool, silk, feathers, leather, and pet hair, while adults feed on pollen and nectar.

Adults are active flyers often found near windows trying to get outside, whereas larvae prefer dark, hidden spaces and tend to avoid light. Females lay eggs in hidden areas rich in protein fibers.

Larvae can cause significant damage to clothing, carpets, upholstered furniture, and stored natural fiber items. They pose no direct health threat to humans, though some individuals may experience allergic reactions or skin irritation from the larval hairs.
