Darkling beetle (likely a mealworm beetle)

Stored grain, flour, cereal products, animal feed, and occasionally indoor areas. Outdoors it lives beneath debris, logs, and other sheltered material.

Larvae feed on grains, bran, flour, and other dry organic matter; adults eat similar materials and may scavenge plant debris.

Mostly nocturnal and secretive, often appearing indoors near stored food. The complete life cycle includes egg, larva (mealworm), pupa, and adult, commonly lasting several months.

Generally harmless to people and does not bite or sting, but infestations can contaminate and spoil stored food. Larvae are widely used as animal feed and contribute to decomposition.
