Common Stink Bug

Orchards, gardens, agricultural fields, and woodlands; often seeking shelter in homes during cold months.

Most species are herbivorous, using piercing-sucking mouthparts to feed on fruits, vegetables, and plant sap.

Known for releasing a pungent odor from scent glands when threatened; they undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult).

Can be significant agricultural pests; generally harmless to humans though they can be a nuisance indoors; some predatory species help control other pests.
