Nocturnal, wingless, fast-running, and agile insects that avoid light and thrive in high humidity. They undergo ametabolous development, meaning they grow through gradual molting without a larval or pupal stage.

Risks include damaging books, documents, clothing, and wallpaper through feeding, but they do not bite humans, transmit diseases, or sting.
