Tarnished Plant Bug

Fields, agricultural crops, gardens, meadows, and weed patches across North America.

Herbivorous; feeds on plant sap from flowers, buds, fruit, and foliage using piercing-sucking mouthparts.

Active during warm months, overwintering as adults under leaf litter or plant debris. They are agile fliers and quickly flee when disturbed.

Significant agricultural pest causing 'cat-facing' injury to fruits, blossom drop, and scarred crops. Harmless to humans and pets as they do not bite or sting.
