Western Conifer Seed Bug

Coniferous forests, gardens, and often found indoors during winter months seeking shelter.

Herbivorous; feeds on the sap of developing cones on various species of pine and other conifers.

Diurnal; known for seeking warm harborages in buildings as temperatures drop in the fall. They produce a distinct buzzing sound when flying and can emit a pungent odor if disturbed.

Harmless to humans as they do not bite or sting. They are considered a minor nuisance pest indoors and can occasionally damage seed crops in conifer nurseries.
