Cellar Spider (Daddy Long-legs Spider)

Commonly found in dark, damp places such as cellars, garages, caves, and corners of ceilings in homes.

Carnivorous; feeds on flies, gnats, mosquitoes, and even larger spiders like huntsman or redbacks.

Known for spinning messy, irregular webs and vibrating rapidly (whirling) when threatened to blur their image. They are sedentary but will hunt other spiders.

Harmless to humans as their fangs are generally too short to penetrate skin; highly beneficial for pest control as they eat common household insects and larger spiders.
