Omnivorous, feeding on sugars, dead insects, seeds, and other organic material; workers forage and carry food to the colony.

Highly social and usually follows scent trails between nests and food sources. Colonies contain workers, reproductive males, and one or more queens, depending on species.

Most household ants are harmless and help decompose organic matter and aerate soil. They can contaminate food and become a nuisance; some species bite or sting, but this individual does not appear dangerous.
