Drugstore Beetle (Bread Beetle)

Worldwide distribution; commonly found in domestic kitchens, pantries, and warehouses where dried plant products are stored.

A wide variety of dried foods and organic materials including flour, cereal, dry pet food, spices, and even leather, wool, or books.

Adults are capable of flight and are attracted to light. They reproduce quickly, with females laying up to 75 eggs at a time, often directly onto a food source. They often leave tiny circular exit holes in packaging.

They are serious household and commercial pests that can contaminate large amounts of stored food, making it unfit for consumption. They pose no direct physical risk to humans but cause significant economic damage.
