Gardens, meadows, open woodlands, and areas with abundant nectar flowers across North America.

Adults feed on nectar from various flowers using a long proboscis. Caterpillars feed on the foliage of host plants such as honeysuckle, snowberry, and viburnum.

Diurnal moths that hover rapidly in front of flowers like hummingbirds. They are strong flyers and mimic bumblebees or small hummingbirds to deter predators.

Completely harmless to humans and beneficial as important pollinators for many garden and wild flowers.
