Ghost ant

Tropical and subtropical regions; indoors they are found in wall voids, behind baseboards, and in flowerpots.

Predominantly honeydew and sugary liquids; they also scavenge for protein, eating dead insects and greasy foods.

Known for their erratic, fast-paced movement when disturbed; they form large, multi-queen colonies that can move nesting sites frequently.

Considered a nuisance pest that can contaminate food; they do not sting and their bite is generally not painful to humans.
